The 11th annual picnic in the park was originally started to celebrate the town itself and it's beginning. It was also a way for the Chamber to yet again give back to the community.
Last years event was cancelled due to rain and it appeared a repeat rainout was going to happen again this year. But the maintenance people at the park really "stepped up to the plate" and had the field in fine working condition for the softball game.
This year also brought on some new events for the kids and food items such as sno-cones and kettle corn. And this years softball game had a few more antics occuring than in years past. Firefighters using hoses to spray base runners, demanding Chamber members wear their boots to run in and even the announcer requiring batters to run in circles before batting. All in all there was much fun to be had and the Chamber remains the undeniable champions with a record of 9-1.
The Chamber would like to thank everyone who came out to the event and we hope to see an even larger turn out next year!
