community park

As with any small town, the park always seems like the "place to be" for just about any event.

The community park started in the early 1950's as no more than a couple of acres graciously donated by the Luckey family.

The Chamber of Commerce and the Turtle Days committee donated playground equipment, a slide, a few swings, teeter totter and a merry-go-round. The Luckey family then donated to help build the Boy Scout Community building.

Today the park boasts 25 acres of land and offers numerous sports avenues for even the most seasoned of athletes.

  • 5 Baseball / Softball diamonds (2-lighted)
  • 4 Lighted tennis courts
  • 1 Lighted basketball court
  • Horseshoe pitching area
  • Picnic area with pavilion
  • A 12-stage fitness trail
  • Fenced skatepark
  • New soccer fields
  • Concession Stands

And let's not forget the several acres of wooded area just to relax in and enjoy Mother Nature at her finest.

In the spring numerous leagues of baseball, softball & soccer begin on numerous fields throughout the 25+ acres. In late June the annual Turtle Days festival is held from Wednesday until Saturday with rides, food and all around family fun for local citizens. And then in August the Chamber of Commerce holds a town community picnic. They serve free drinks and hot dogs to everyone and then they play a six-inning game against the local fire department.
